Homemade PB&J Uncrustable, sealed and crustless, ready for a kid’s lunchbox

There’s something about peanut butter and jelly that never gets old. It’s a classic combination that makes kids (and honestly, parents too) happy every single time. In our house, these PB&J Uncrustables are on repeat — breakfast, after-school snacks, and lunchboxes. They’re quick to make, customizable, and the best part? You can freeze a whole batch to have ready whenever you need them.

I included this recipe in my 30 Days of Lunches Plan because it saves me so much time during busy school mornings. My kids love them, and I love not stressing over what to pack.

And let’s be real for a second — I miss those giant Costco-sized peanut butter jars. We go through peanut butter like water around here, and the small jars I find locally just don’t last!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Kid approved – my kids never say no to these.
  • Freezer-friendly – make ahead and save time.
  • Customizable – switch up the nut butter or jelly flavors.
  • Perfect for lunchboxes – pack frozen and they’ll thaw by lunchtime.

Variations & Tips

  • Use almond butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter if your child has nut allergies.
  • Try different jellies or jams — strawberry, raspberry, apricot, or even apple butter.
  • Add a thin layer of honey or banana slices for a fun twist.
  • Make a whole batch on Sunday, freeze, and school lunches are done for the week.

If you’ve got peanut butter lovers in your house (like I do), these homemade Uncrustables will be a hit. They’re budget-friendly, better than store-bought, and so easy to pull together. Whether you serve them for breakfast, as an after-school snack, or tucked into a lunchbox, these little sandwiches always disappear fast.

Kid Friendly Peanut Butter and Jelly Uncrustables (Freezer-Friendly)

Prep Time5 minutes
Total Time5 minutes
Servings: 2 Uncrustables

Ingredients

  • 4 slices untoasted bread
  • 2 teaspoons peanut butter
  • 2 teaspoons jelly any flavor your kids love
  • Sandwich sealer or use a large cup + fork

Instructions

  • Start by keeping your bread untoasted so it stays soft.
  • Spread 1 teaspoon of peanut butter in the middle of one slice, then add 1 teaspoon of jelly on top.
  • Place the second slice of bread over it and center in your sandwich sealer.
  • Press firmly all around until the sandwich is sealed and the crust is trimmed away.

No sealer? No problem. Use a wide cup to cut out a circle, then press the edges closed with a fork.

You can serve these immediately, pop them in the toaster or microwave for a warm version, or freeze them for up to 1 month. If freezing, simply pack them straight into the lunchbox — they’ll thaw perfectly by lunchtime.
