Ingredients

  • 1 –2 medium potatoes per serving Russet or Yukon Gold are best
  • Salt to taste
  • Olive oil spray

Instructions

Step 1: Shred the potatoes

  • Use a box grater or food processor to shred 1–2 potatoes per person.

Step 2: Rinse and squeeze

  • Rinse the shredded potatoes in cold water to wash away excess starch, then squeeze out the water using a clean kitchen towel. This step is key for crispiness.

Step 3: Season

  • Sprinkle with salt and mix well.

Step 4: Preheat and prep

  • Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (400°F). Spray the basket with olive oil.

Step 5: Cook in batches

  • Spread the potatoes in an even layer (don’t overcrowd). Spray the top lightly with olive oil.

Step 6: Air fry to perfection

  • Cook for 12 minutes, stirring halfway through. The edges will crisp up beautifully.

Step 7: Serve warm

  • Enjoy your crispy air fryer hash browns with eggs, avocado toast, or even inside a breakfast burrito.

Freezing Tips

Got extra shredded potatoes? Place them in a freezer-safe bag and freeze for up to six months. When ready to use, thaw slightly and toss them straight into the air fryer.
